Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, During Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," it added.
It said missile fragments fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
