The network's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Gets a Major Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.

During the fall season, Adult Swim debuted a new season of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. But, shortly thereafter, the channel introduced a brand-new animated series with a distinctly unique vibe. Haha, You Clowns was sweet and soothing, reminiscent of a animated take of a serene talk show. In an era often marked by bleakness, this show's earnestness resonated deeply and propelled it a surprise hit.

A Significant Investment

In mid-December, Adult Swim made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two additional seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to expand upon the world of the Campbell family. The series centers on three polite teenage brothers whose primary trait is their strong bond for their widowed father, with Cappa portraying for all four main characters.

"I’m so grateful to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and spread the word," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Executive Acclaim

Accompanying the news laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and oddly captivating." He thanked the fans who found the show and advocated for its peculiarly charming sensibility.

"All of you showed up for this new show, championed for it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a gentle counterpart" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something surprisingly comfy about observing this endearing family navigate their everyday routines.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa expressed his hope to help comedy break out of its prevailing sarcastic tone. He traced this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

ā€œIt feels like there's a default mode of irony that we are trapped in,ā€ said Cappa. ā€œIt's like we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we need to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.ā€

Future Seasons

Now, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa could potentially be part of that comedic shift. Or at the very least, the renewal promises audiences additional episodes to experience the warm glow of the unique Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The entire series is available for streaming on HBO Max.
