The President Invites Families of Attacked National Guard Soldiers to the White House
Former President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the White House.
He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were âdeeply grievingâ.
Information on the Devastating Event
Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a violent incident on Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Gatherings across the state have been held in their honor.
White House Invitation
The commander-in-chief said heâs talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both individuals of the state National Guard.
âI told them: âWhen youâre ready, because thatâs a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. Weâre going to recognize her,â the president told journalists. âAnd in the same way with him, whether he recovers or not.â
Public Support
Attendees assembled over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to honor Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the presidentâs federal initiative to support policing efforts in the capital.
Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom
âSarah was the type of pupil that educators wished for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that inspired people around her,â Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstromâs previous school, informed the media. âShe was sweet, compassionate and always willing to support those in need.â
Service plans for Sarah are in the process of planning.
Legal Actions and Government Adjustments
Officials have accused a 29-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
The event caused the government to halt asylum processing and cease granting entry permits to possessors of Afghan passports.
Condition of the Airman
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, as reported by the news agency.
He remains under medical supervision and is âbattling to surviveâ, West Virginia governor Morrisey mentioned on a news program.
The stateâs top lawyer Pam Bondi stated on the program that she aimed to speak to his relatives.
Impact of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in June 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with honor, according to the West Virginia National Guard.
âShe had a lot of compassion and she certainly had fortitude,â Morrisey informed the crowd at the vigil. âThough her life lasted far too short, she has created a legacy thatâs going to be remembered always.â
